Summer is literally around the corner and here in Miami, beach and pool season are in full swing. he big question doesnt seem to be which bathing suite to wear but rather what style will protect your eyes from the sun. For years the trend was the huge sunglasses that cover almost half of your face but now the trend is going back to a simpler and more relaxed. Ray Bans seem to always be the go to sunglasses whether its aviators a year ago or wayfarer's now.
Aviators will always be the classic look for any stylish person just like Kate Beckinsale;
The other great thing about Aviators is that they are for male and females. The newest trend in sunglasses for everyone is the Wayfarer. they come in all different colors:
They are great to match with every look and even men can pull them off with ease, just as Ryan Gosling did below:
This style of sunglasses isn't just available in its original form from Ray Ban but also from stores such as target as well as other brand names. Anyone can wear the colors too:
Go out and get a pair and no matter where you are maybe the sun will come out faster if your prepared :)
The song of the week should also get you in the summer mood, just because its fun;
As you already know, I'm in love with shoes of any shape or form. Lately I've been really into studded shoes of any kind; heels, loafers, combat boots or anything else.
These following Loafers are from MiuMiu:
These heels, that happen to also be from MiuMiu are amazing. They have studs of all different shapes and sizes which makes them even more special.
The last pair of studded shoes I want to share with you are booties with a three inch heel, that can be found on nastygal.com.
The song of there are two songs of the week, the first of which I'm sure you've all heard becuase its in a few commercials at the minute; too close by Alex Clare
The Second song of the week is Stubborn Love by the Lumineers;
Coachella is THE music festival to attend, no matter what kind of music you listen to. There is something for every genre of music lover and the same goes for fashion. At this music festival, there is no one style that stands out. There is everything. Everything from long summer dresses, to short skirts, to rocker t-shirts, to leggings, to combat boots were spotted these last two weeks.
Personally, I wasn't able to make it out to California for either weekend but I did keep up with the street style and wanted to show you some of my favorites. My first style is fun and definitely festival appropriate.
The second outfit I love is a very summery look in white lace. Adorable.
Kate Bosworth went to Coachella with a style that has been omnipresent this season, animal print. She paired it with cute black shorts, high tops and an "I don't care." attitude.
My absolute favorite outfit I found from Coachella, is worn by Nicole Dabeau. This outfit is nothing short of perfection, with the print pants, leather jacket and cute hat. Perfection.
The song of the week is a performance from Coachella that everyone has been talking about, but if you haven't seen a dead man walking here's your chance.
xoxo,

Summer is almost here and I know everyone is getting their beach bodies ready. This week on the street I saw some fun summer styles. From sundresses, to jean shorts, I’ve seen it all. My favorite look of the week is the crop top. Fair warning it is hard to pull off, but if you can, it’s more than worth it.
Free People has a very cute one:
And here are some street spots of people that were able to sport the style this week!
Oxfords may be known as a boring old man shoe but now one can find oxfords everywhere. They dont have to be black and they definitely aren't boring anymore. I went out shopping a bit too much this week and realized how many different type of oxfords there are.
Below you can see a bunch of Celebrities in oxfords, most of them in rather neutral colors.
On my own adventures I found a few more colorful pairs, that are perfect for spring and summer. First lets look at the pair for women. They are made by Cole Haan and are shown in blue but they also come in yellow, light pink and bright pink.
These shoes are also made for men and can be awesome if worn right:
This week in miami, one of the biggest house music festivals took place, with thousands of people on the street. This type of festival calls for a lot of color, especially neon and pretty much anything else one may not want to wear on a regular day.
Below are a few examples of the neon:
Another trend that I spotted was something people are calling gloving. Which are gloves with lights, just like below.
This past week I did a bit of traveling and one thing really stood out. Everything looks better with a scarf, especially this time of year. A simple white t-shirt and jeans can turn into a fun outfit with a scarf of any kind; animal print, skulls, or a regular print.
Animal print scarves have been fashionable for a few years and they come in almost any color and in all price ranges. As one can see in the following picture Celebrities have also caught on to this trend.
Skull print scarves have also been fashionable for a few years, and were made popular by Alexander McQueen. Below you can see one of the originals but they can also be found at any price range.
The third type of scarf print that has been trending for the past few years is the Keffiyeh print, which is actually a traditional Arab headdress but first became fashionable in the US in the 80’s. It has come back now not only in black and white but in almost any color one can imagine.
Below are two more fun scarves that can pep up any outfit!
The song of the week is from across the pond from Estelle.
As usual at fashion week if one watches every single show one will find every color and every type of look and this was definitely the case at Milan Fashion Week. There were a few trends that stood out for me; the color red, black and gold as a combination and black with navy blue stood out.
These trends that are meant to be fall 2012, could already be spotted on the streets of Milan this February. There were many colors in the runways shows, from purple and pink to brown and nude but red stood out to me the most. On the runway it was seen in multiple collections including Marni and Jil Sander. Below is the Jil Sander dress.
On the street it was a little different, the red dress also incorporated one of the biggest trends of this coming spring. Florals.
The second trend is the combination of black and blue. Many of the big fashion houses of the world jumped on this trend including Roberto Cavalli, Emporio Armani, Bottega Veneta and Moschino. Below are the Emporio Armani outfits.
This style was also spotted on the streets of Milan during fashion week. In this case it happened to also be a suit but for everyone wanting to try this combination, it can be done with most styles.
The last style is one that I’m sure most of you have seen at some point this award season. Black and Gold. First lets look at the runway looks by Dolce and Gabbana. As you can see below these colors were a theme throughout the show.
My favorite black and gold style wasn’t on the runway or on the street; it was on the red carpet. At the Academy Awards Jessica Chastain looked gorgeous in Alexander McQueen.
She wasn’t the only one who wore black and gold that night, she was joined by Sandra Bullock.
The streets incorporated this combination in a very different way. The following picture isn’t as dressy but definitely better for daytime or less fancy occasions.
To recap, this fall you will definitely be seeing red, the combinations black and blue as well as black and gold. So get a head start on fall 2012 trends and check out www.thre.ad for more street style!
This past week London fashion week has been in full swing. The runways and the streets were full of new styles and unique fashionistas. On the runways one could see a little bit of everything just as on the streets. Personally I found the street style just as fascinating as the runway and that is why I decided to recreate three street styles, with my own twist.
The first look is a floral print shirt and shorts with a white blazer and sandals. To change to look to fit the closets I have at my disposal, which also tend to reflect my personal style.
The picture above is the London streetstyle and below you can see my roommate, in a blue floral romper, with blue peep toes and blazer.
The second look is a twist on a suite. The original is worn by Poppy Delevingne a model and Biritsh Fashion Ambassador.
Below is my version of the look, with a little change in color but similar style.
Last but not least, it wouldn’t be London without a trench coat in the mix. Below you can see the street style with a beige trench and button down.
My versions of this look is a little more colorful, but the focal point of the outfit, the trench coat is present.
There were a few more interesting styles that caught my eye. The Vogue Paris Editor In-Chief Emmanuelle Alt was seen sporting a very low-key look of sweaters with jeans and pepping those up with some accessories.
One last item that caught my eye are the following shoes; not only because I love studded anything but also because I’ve never seen anything like them.
There are so many good new songs I would love to share with you but today, going with the london theme, heres The Clash:
This is just a quick music post, because if you don't know about him you need to get to get on it. Ed Sheeran is a young british singer and songwriter. I'm sure he's one to watch in the near future. He has a lot of great songs but 'Give Me Love' gives me goose bumps.
Give it a listen.
This week of my Thread internship was definitely an interesting. There was a lot to do with keeping up with New York Fashion Week and all the shows. On the streets in New York and Miami, there was also a lot to be seen. Spotting people felt different, there were so many different styles to be seen, from floral prints to bright colors to all black outfits, nothing was missing.
Two very different trends seemed to be prevalent, due to the lovely miami weather. Color; many people are wearing the very fashionable pop of color, either with fun colorful shoes, or pants. A really simple but fun pair of colored shoes are converse... They are made in any color, design and now you can even get them custom made to your liking. Loafers, heel and wedges in all colors are also perfect to pep up an outfit. Personally I love to wear a black outfit and purple heels.
Another trend that I spotted multiple times this week is nude colors and off white tones. In the following outfit you can see the lace off-white shirt and the faded floral jeans. It is stylish, simple and classy.
There are going to be two songs today since I can't decide on one or the other :) They are both great duets...!
Erik Hassle and Ellie Goulding - Be Mine (a Robyn cover)
Fashion and the internet go hand in hand all year round but during the Mercedes Benz Fashion week in New York City the internet explodes with new style. Only hours after the clothes are on the runway they are online for the entire world to access. Whether it be New York Times online, Elle online or any blogger that attends the shows, the pictures, videos and reviews are available.
When thinking back to before the Internet, the flow of information was much slower and significantly smaller. It would take days or weeks for the information to travel to ‘regular people’ living even in the close vicinity of where the fashion shows take place. Now; people in New York, Russia, Japan and Italy have access to the information at the same time.
As the first fashion social media site thre.ad is making the street style of fashion week available to the public. They are answering the second most important question during fashion week; what are New Yorkers and fashion show attendees wearing in this time filled with unique outfits?
Some of these attendees are invited due to their presence online. Bloggers; the new fashion experts and the new front row crew at all the biggest fashion shows. 10 years ago if you told anyone in the industry that soon the front row would be filled with fashion enthusiasts who write something called a blogged on a regular basis for free, they would have laughed in your face. Now the question is not ‘if’ but ‘which one” will be in the front row. As stated in The Observer, they are friends with personalities such as Marc Jacobs and Anna Wintour.
When looking through the shows this year, I picked out three of my favorite looks. My number one look is above, by Jason Wu. The fur sleeves on the Bordeaux and black colored suit make this one of kind. This is definitely something new, different and fun.
My second favorite look is the Alexander McQueen dress above. It reminds me of the movie Black Swan, with the girly ballerina cut and nude color but also with the edgy facemask to show that twisted side. The ruffles and the upper torso have the swan wings look as well.
The third look that goes in my top three is something most women could actually wear. This Betsey Johnson coat is really cute, fun and fashionable but also unique.
As usual, here’s the song for today, Stare into the Sun by Graffiti 6. This isn’t the newest song, but I have a feeling the soon Graffiti 6 will be all over the radio.
My first full week at thread ended as of today and with New York Fashion Week going on its definitely been a busy one. Keeping up with all the shows has been an interesting challenge, especially from down here in Miami.
Going up to people and asking to take a picture of them has gotten easier this week and there have been many fun trends. Last week it seemed as though everyone had combat boots and this week everyone was rocking the animal print.
It may just be due to the weather this week in Miami which hasn't been too great, meaning everyone is out and about in rain boots or scarves to keep dry and warm. Animal print, from leopard to zebra isn't exactly a new trend but its a recurring one. Louis Vuitton shows this by coming out with a new line of leopard print scarves in spring colors. Red:
This scarf now comes in many different colors and so do many other leopard print accessories. When it comes to rain boots, as usual I saw many hunter brand ones, but also some other printed ones. Zebra with jeans:
Prints can be worn in many different forms. For those people that aren't to risky but want to try something new an animal print accessory can be a great way to test the waters. People that love to take risks can wear entire gown and even mix and match prints, always keeping in mind that one print should be more extreme than the other.
Animal prints are fun and can make any women feel amazing. In memory or an amazing musician and woman my song of the week is "I'm Every Woman" by Whitney Houston (rest in peace).
I started my internship with www.thre.ad February 1st less than a week ago. These first few days have been an interesting experience, getting the logistics figured out, getting used to the site and getting used to how to walk up to random people and asking them to take a picture of them. The last one is the hardest to get used to, but with a few more days of experience surely that will get easier.
When it comes to thread spotting, combat boots were at the top of everyone’s list. If they didn’t already have them, then they wanted a pair. From celebrities to high school students everyone wears them, but what makes them so popular?
That’s definitely debatable but I think it the fact that they can be worn in any weather, with (almost) every type of outfit and the more you wear them, more used they look, the better they look. Jessica alba, shows this in the following pictures, in the first she’s pairs them the classic way with jeans. In the second she wears a red pair with shorts and a very cute top.
The other great thing about combat boots is that men and women can wear them equally successfully. Two of my favorite combinations were, a blue pair with some skinnies and a guy pairing it with a jeans vest.
Laced up or open they are always fashionable. Stylish. And Cool. They never look like your trying. If you don't have a pair you should definitely consider buying a pair, its the must have of the season and the more used they look the better, so they'll last for quite a while.
The song of the week is SBTRKT with right thing to do. This song is to music as combat boots are to fashion, chill and effortless.
