London Calling.

This past week London fashion week has been in full swing. The runways and the streets were full of new styles and unique fashionistas. On the runways one could see a little bit of everything just as on the streets. Personally I found the street style just as fascinating as the runway and that is why I decided to recreate three street styles, with my own twist.

The first look is a floral print shirt and shorts with a white blazer and sandals. To change to look to fit the closets I have at my disposal, which also tend to reflect my personal style.

The picture above is the London streetstyle and below you can see my roommate, in a blue floral romper, with blue peep toes and blazer.

The second look is a twist on a suite. The original is worn by Poppy Delevingne a model and Biritsh Fashion Ambassador.

Below is my version of the look, with a little change in color but similar style.

Last but not least, it wouldn’t be London without a trench coat in the mix. Below you can see the street style with a beige trench and button down.

My versions of this look is a little more colorful, but the focal point of the outfit, the trench coat is present.

There were a few more interesting styles that caught my eye. The Vogue Paris Editor In-Chief Emmanuelle Alt was seen sporting a very low-key look of sweaters with jeans and pepping those up with some accessories.

One last item that caught my eye are the following shoes; not only because I love studded anything but also because I’ve never seen anything like them.

There are so many good new songs I would love to share with you but today, going with the london theme, heres The Clash:

Ed Sheeran

This is just a quick music post, because if you don't know about him you need to get to get on it. Ed Sheeran is a young british singer and songwriter. I'm sure he's one to watch in the near future. He has a lot of great songs but 'Give Me Love' gives me goose bumps.
Give it a listen.

A Pop of Color.

This week of my Thread internship was definitely an interesting. There was a lot to do with keeping up with New York Fashion Week and all the shows. On the streets in New York and Miami, there was also a lot to be seen. Spotting people felt different, there were so many different styles to be seen, from floral prints to bright colors to all black outfits, nothing was missing.

Two very different trends seemed to be prevalent, due to the lovely miami weather. Color; many people are wearing the very fashionable pop of color, either with fun colorful shoes, or pants. A really simple but fun pair of colored shoes are converse... They are made in any color, design and now you can even get them custom made to your liking. Loafers, heel and wedges in all colors are also perfect to pep up an outfit. Personally I love to wear a black outfit and purple heels.

Another trend that I spotted multiple times this week is nude colors and off white tones. In the following outfit you can see the lace off-white shirt and the faded floral jeans. It is stylish, simple and classy.

There are going to be two songs today since I can't decide on one or the other :) They are both great duets...!

Erik Hassle and Ellie Goulding - Be Mine (a Robyn cover)

And, Up - James Morrison and Jessie J.

Fashion is all around us…

Fashion and the internet go hand in hand all year round but during the Mercedes Benz Fashion week in New York City the internet explodes with new style. Only hours after the clothes are on the runway they are online for the entire world to access. Whether it be New York Times online, Elle online or any blogger that attends the shows, the pictures, videos and reviews are available.

When thinking back to before the Internet, the flow of information was much slower and significantly smaller. It would take days or weeks for the information to travel to ‘regular people’ living even in the close vicinity of where the fashion shows take place. Now; people in New York, Russia, Japan and Italy have access to the information at the same time.

As the first fashion social media site thre.ad is making the street style of fashion week available to the public. They are answering the second most important question during fashion week; what are New Yorkers and fashion show attendees wearing in this time filled with unique outfits?

Some of these attendees are invited due to their presence online. Bloggers; the new fashion experts and the new front row crew at all the biggest fashion shows. 10 years ago if you told anyone in the industry that soon the front row would be filled with fashion enthusiasts who write something called a blogged on a regular basis for free, they would have laughed in your face. Now the question is not ‘if’ but ‘which one” will be in the front row. As stated in The Observer, they are friends with personalities such as Marc Jacobs and Anna Wintour.

When looking through the shows this year, I picked out three of my favorite looks. My number one look is above, by Jason Wu. The fur sleeves on the Bordeaux and black colored suit make this one of kind. This is definitely something new, different and fun.

My second favorite look is the Alexander McQueen dress above. It reminds me of the movie Black Swan, with the girly ballerina cut and nude color but also with the edgy facemask to show that twisted side. The ruffles and the upper torso have the swan wings look as well.

The third look that goes in my top three is something most women could actually wear. This Betsey Johnson coat is really cute, fun and fashionable but also unique.
As usual, here’s the song for today, Stare into the Sun by Graffiti 6. This isn’t the newest song, but I have a feeling the soon Graffiti 6 will be all over the radio.

Print It.

My first full week at thread ended as of today and with New York Fashion Week going on its definitely been a busy one. Keeping up with all the shows has been an interesting challenge, especially from down here in Miami.
Going up to people and asking to take a picture of them has gotten easier this week and there have been many fun trends. Last week it seemed as though everyone had combat boots and this week everyone was rocking the animal print.

It may just be due to the weather this week in Miami which hasn't been too great, meaning everyone is out and about in rain boots or scarves to keep dry and warm. Animal print, from leopard to zebra isn't exactly a new trend but its a recurring one. Louis Vuitton shows this by coming out with a new line of leopard print scarves in spring colors. Red:

This scarf now comes in many different colors and so do many other leopard print accessories. When it comes to rain boots, as usual I saw many hunter brand ones, but also some other printed ones. Zebra with jeans:

Prints can be worn in many different forms. For those people that aren't to risky but want to try something new an animal print accessory can be a great way to test the waters. People that love to take risks can wear entire gown and even mix and match prints, always keeping in mind that one print should be more extreme than the other.
Animal prints are fun and can make any women feel amazing. In memory or an amazing musician and woman my song of the week is "I'm Every Woman" by Whitney Houston (rest in peace).

Combating through my first week

I started my internship with www.thre.ad February 1st less than a week ago. These first few days have been an interesting experience, getting the logistics figured out, getting used to the site and getting used to how to walk up to random people and asking them to take a picture of them. The last one is the hardest to get used to, but with a few more days of experience surely that will get easier.

When it comes to thread spotting, combat boots were at the top of everyone’s list. If they didn’t already have them, then they wanted a pair. From celebrities to high school students everyone wears them, but what makes them so popular?

That’s definitely debatable but I think it the fact that they can be worn in any weather, with (almost) every type of outfit and the more you wear them, more used they look, the better they look. Jessica alba, shows this in the following pictures, in the first she’s pairs them the classic way with jeans. In the second she wears a red pair with shorts and a very cute top.

The other great thing about combat boots is that men and women can wear them equally successfully. Two of my favorite combinations were, a blue pair with some skinnies and a guy pairing it with a jeans vest.

Laced up or open they are always fashionable. Stylish. And Cool. They never look like your trying. If you don't have a pair you should definitely consider buying a pair, its the must have of the season and the more used they look the better, so they'll last for quite a while.

The song of the week is SBTRKT with right thing to do. This song is to music as combat boots are to fashion, chill and effortless.

Have a great start to your week!

Why?

Hello Everyone,

For a while now I've been thinking of starting a blog about fashion and music, but wasn't sure where I would fit in, in the blogging world, until today. Today is the first day of my internship as a community curator for www.thre.ad. Thread is a fashion spotting community which allows it s members to upload their own style and ones that they see and get feedback on them and see what other people are wearing as well as how they are wearing it.

This is definitely the start of something new. This following song is the perfect way to say that :)
